About Anchorage
Welcome to Anchorage!
Anchorage enjoys one of the most diverse populations of any city in the United States. Our citizens weave their heritage into a rich tapestry that provides wonderful opportunities to participate in cultural events every day of the year. The busy calendar includes concerts, plays, cultural celebrations, fairs and bazaars, restaurants that offer delicacies from the world's cuisines and all of the amenities of a big city where moose amble down the busiest streets in town.
Two universities, several colleges, institutes, and professional training facilities provide intellectual vitality to the Anchorage area and host a wide variety of interactions from neighborhood conversations to international conferences. Anchorage-based researchers advance human knowledge in every field, with particular emphasis on areas that concern those of us who live in latitudes closest to the North Pole.

From the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce web site:
"Anchorage is located in a region referred to as Southcentral Alaska. This region is easily accessible to air, land, and sea and is the first stop for many visitors to the state. Almost half of Alaska's residents live in this area surrounded by miles of coast, mountain ranges, hundreds of lakes and rivers, glaciers, ski resorts, excellent fishing and recreational opportunities and nearly 20 state parks."
